RRC is gearing up for the Head of the Schuylkill race, which the Junior Competitive Team will be traveling out to Pennsylvania for this week.
RRC volunteers recently repainted the club's boat trailer to get it ready for the long trek out to Philadelphia with our boats. Head Coach Caleb Schuder and the RRC Board decided to stick with our fluorescent green color, since a number of parents and rowers explained it's easy to find in a sea of trailers. New foam padding is also being added to keep our boats stable on the racks.
The Schuylkill race has been running since 1971. Read more history about the race by clicking here. Last year's race had over 8,900 athletes. RRC will be competing in events 27A, 30A, 34A, 34C, and 34D - women's doubles and men's doubles and quads. Coach Caleb decided to undertake the Head of the Schuylkill to give our high school athletes the chance to compete at a higher level, and face competitors outside of our local area. It also gives our high school athletes the chance to interact with the east coast rowing community and rowing colleges.
